Hi all, just a friendly reminder that the (hard) deadline to submit a proposal is April 1st. We are looking forward to your proposals.

The 40th annual meeting of the Political Methodology Society will take place July 9-11, 2023, at Stanford University. Participants will also have the option to participate online.

We are excited that our keynote speaker will be Stefan Wager from Stanford's GSB and Margaret (Molly) Roberts from UCSD will be the discussant for the keynote.

The meeting is the premier venue to showcase and receive feedback on recent work in the field of political methodology as well as empirical applications of quantitative methods to substantive questions in political science and beyond. It is also an excellent opportunity for building professional networks and meeting the next generation of political scientists. If you would like to join our community, we encourage you to apply.

The Political Methodology Society is committed to diversity and inclusion, and actively works to increase the diversity of our subfield and reach out to people from under-represented groups. We welcome applicants of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage our members to spread the word about the conference throughout their network so we can ensure an enriching meeting. And if you are reading this announcement and wondering if *you* are invited -- you are.

Applications are now being accepted for paper proposals, posters, and attendance. We ask that all interested in attending or participating in either modality submit an application to help us plan.

If you would like to participate, please submit a proposal by April 1, 2023. This is a firm deadline. We plan to have acceptance notifications sent out by May 1st. Registration will close June 1st and the final program will be announced June 12th.

In the coming months, we will provide additional information about travel, lodging, registration fees, networking events, and more. Please visit the conference website https://polmeth2023.sites.stanford.edu

CODE OF CONDUCT: The Society requires that all participants acknowledge and follow the Code of Conduct at SPM Events to ensure a harassment-free environment at the meeting. If you are invited to participate, you will be asked to confirm your agreement in the registration form. You can read the Code of Conduct on the SPM's website:

PARTICIPATION: The conference will take place at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center here on campus in Palo Alto, CA. There will also be an option for people to attend panels virtually. We recognize that university travel funds, caregiving responsibilities, and travel commitments are not uniformly distributed across our profession. The success of the meeting hinges upon our ability to achieve an inclusive, intellectually vibrant, and professionally rewarding experience. And we are eager to welcome you to Stanford in person or to our meeting online to join in that conversation.

COVID-19 POLICIES: We will follow Stanford’s COVID-19 policies (https://healthalerts.stanford.edu/covid-19/ ). Online participation in the panels is also an option for those who do not feel comfortable attending in person.

NOTE FOR CAREGIVERS: All caregivers are welcome to bring their infants to the meeting. The conference center provides lactation rooms that will be available to participants. If you would like to explore childcare options during the conference please email [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> as soon as possible and we will work on a case-by-case basis to try and meet your needs as best we can.

We look forward to seeing many of you this summer.

Sincerely,

The PolMeth 40 Crew

Organizers: Justin Grimmer, Jens Hainmueller, Yiqing Xu
