Dear Colleagues,

I’m writing to let you know that ANU is again offering our fully online Summer School in Political Analysis (SSPA) in January-February 2024 (i.e., northern-hemisphere winter). SSPA provides a sequenced combination of foundational and advanced short-course topics focused on methods in political science.

Full details are found on the SSPA website (https://politicsir.cass.anu.edu.au/spir-summerwinter-courses#acton-tabs-link--tabs-0-row_2-2 ).

There are seven short-courses on offer in total (2 foundational and 5 advanced). These span topics from Foundations of Statistical Analysis, to Programming in “R”, Survey Design, Network Analysis and Text Analysis. The courses are designed for PhD students, advanced undergrads / prospective PhD students, and early-career and established academics looking to upgrade their methodological skills for professional political science research. Given the time zone and live online delivery, these courses are easily accessible not only in Australia, but throughout Northeast and Southeast Asia and New Zealand.

The cost of the courses is A$750 (about US$480), and each course runs for 5 half-days. There is a discount for ANU students. Since we offer these courses annually, students can begin the series in February and then continue the following year, or possibly during Winter (July) break 2024 for selected courses. Attendance is online so of course no travel costs would be involved.

Please circulate this information widely! Register asap – places are limited.

Feel free to contact me ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) if you have any questions or need further information.

Best regards,

Ben
