Dear colleagues,

It is with pleasure to invite you to the launch of our Varieties of Indoctrination (V-Indoc) data on 28 Feb, 15h (GMT). After many years in the making, we are proud to finally publish the V-Indoc dataset, which introduces 27 original indicators and 13 indices, measuring the politicisation of education and the media. The data draws on the information provided by 760 country experts (surveyed in collaboration with the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute) and offers unrivaled coverage of 160 countries from 1945-2021. The V-Indoc dataset aims to facilitate richer and more expansive empirical examinations of the causes and consequences of indoctrination around the world and over time.

At the launch event, you will hear from the DEMED team about the concept ideas behind the data, how the data was collected, the construction of the indices, and how the data can be accessed. We will also demonstrate key findings from the data and the state of indoctrination around the world. To make data exploration easy for users, we have developed a Shiny app, which we will demonstrate. You will also have the chance to ask questions about the data and how to use it.

Come and join us at the launch and r<https://uofglasgow.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_I9dPEEUwQsucGnPQbsxPmQ>egister for the event<https://uofglasgow.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_I9dPEEUwQsucGnPQbsxPmQ> here. Please feel free to circulate the invitation to anyone who might be interested in our data.

The data will be accessible via our website after the launch event. Here you can already find a copy of our codebook, a working paper outlining our concepts and data collection, and a link to the Shiny app to explore the data (released on 28 Feb): https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/az/democracyresearch/datamethods/v-indocdataset/

Kind regards,
Anja

(and Katerina, Ksenia, Eugenia & Wooseok)
