Colleagues: Could you please circulate this call for presenters among your networks? We are interested in participation from all social science and adjacent interdisciplinary fields. Many thanks. -Leanne *** The summer Methods Café series invites self-nominations for participants from any social science or allied field. This brown-bag workshop series intends to provide a non-technical introduction to a relatively new analytical tool each week, with a focus on teaching the method in a particular context and providing information about the tool’s potential usefulness outside of that initial domain. Both faculty and graduate students are welcome to present. More guidelines will be provided for presenters once the schedule is finalized. Additional information is at https://www.leannecpowner.com/pages/methodscafe.html . Topics requested by last year's audiences include: Bayesian Process Tracing Conjoint Experiments Strategies for Content Analysis Strategies for Discourse Analysis Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis Overview of Dimension Reduction Strategies (Principal Component Analysis, Factor Analysis, etc.) Intro to Bayesian Models/Logic Network Analysis Machine Learning Text as Data Difference-in-Differences Digital Qualitative Fieldwork Techniques (beyond interviewing/digital archives) Hierarchical Linear Modeling Regression Discontinuity Sensitive Issues in Survey Measurement Survey Experiments Self-nominated topics are welcome. Sessions are held Thursdays from 12-1 ET starting May 18 and running through Aug 10. To volunteer to present, please complete the brief Google form at https://forms.gle/ggkyYA3ipMW4eHPM9. It asks for a brief summary of your topic and paper; an abstract or a few sentences is sufficient, as is a link to a complete paper. Please consider circulating this announcement among your networks to diversify participation. Information about registering to attend workshops is on the Methods Cafe page at http://www.leannecpowner.com/pages/methodscafe.html .
