Bocconi University, Department of Social and Political Sciences
Comparative Politics, Assistant Professor
The Department of Social and Political Sciences at Bocconi University is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Political Science, specifically within the subfield of comparative politics (with an emphasis on either mass behavior, political economy, or political institutions). The appointment begins on September 1, 2024.
To complement the existing strengths and profile of the department, candidates engaged in research employing rigorous quantitative analysis are highly preferred. Candidates should show evidence of a promising research agenda, and should be doing work that engages with multiple fields of study in the department—political science, applied economics, public administration and health, sociology and demography, and economic history. Candidates should also be able to teach courses in comparative politics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, specifically in the university’s undergraduate program in International Politics and Government, its master's program in Politics and Policy Analysis, and its PhD program in Social and Political Sciences.
Bocconi University is a leading European research and teaching institution in economics, social sciences, management and related disciplines. In the 2022 QS World University Ranking of Social Sciences and Management programs, Bocconi ranked 4th in Europe and 10th worldwide. The Department of Social and Political Sciences provides an ideal interdisciplinary research environment. It comprises approximately 60 tenured or tenure-track faculty members who share an interest in policy-relevant research, addressing questions on numerous world challenges, such as inequality, government responsiveness and accountability, corruption and organized crime, environmental sustainability, global health, and international cooperation. Bocconi is located in Italy's most vibrant center, Milan, a historic, cosmopolitan and international city in a metropolitan area of 3 million that is well connected to the rest of Europe and the world. Knowledge of Italian is not required. Terms of employment are competitive.
Applications should be received by October 1, 2023. Applicants must submit (1) a current curriculum vitae, (2) a job market paper (and up to four other published papers), (3) a cover letter, and (4) teaching and research statements via the on-line form using PDF attachments at www.unibocconi.eu/jobmarket <https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unibocconi.eu%2Fjobmarket%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR3JlroTqPU7GNp2g_AU3lcr2SydG89PjFu5ca6sSMhKEUETYHfz1xf8hyA&h=AT0BGAFLXySJycpbVCArlvmLutt8MlmGALGyf_ljg9src3gXG9FydbB1iBcgfNhQIDiXT0JCnqx19Eu82lz-iQt6qLVrFR2fw9qC_thJ2sxGsj2HmL5VUE-467TCW6JzyisAMQ&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AT3BR8GjdmaOAntpKwg-tKR00GnNZzF4kJudG4EQ8G-3-nMiQhm4BJHY0XbRSxLPxAKu_6Ng9mkr7BRn0agwsIdM7YOsFyJ965GTWkBZmvtA79G8fLiP_gvTk4pQ4mVe8WBIWjlaT8jTfY68zgQ5Q2oKLMujgy71Zx6I2fsu6wbUZaUEOPDsencXdeucTYRmjj5jx9ljALiCGvXiKb3O35k>.
