Please see the job ad below, asking for applications for a broadly defined

ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY Assistant Professor

The Department of Political Science at Arizona State University seeks
candidates for a tenure-track appointment as an assistant professor in
comparative politics and/or international relations to teach graduate and
undergraduate courses; conduct research and publish in International
Relations and/or Comparative Politics; and perform appropriate university,
professional, and community service. The position is open with respect to
geographical area and substantive theoretical interests.

A Ph.D. in political science is required by the time of employment, which
begins August 16, 2006. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in
research and teaching. Because ASU's Department of Political Science hosts
the annual Institute on Qualitative Research Methods, the Search Committee
is especially interested in receiving applications from scholars whose
research develops and/or applies qualitative research methods (broadly
defined), either alone or in conjunction with quantitative and/or formal
methods.

The application deadline is November 1, 2005, or if not filled, the 1st of
each month until the search is closed. A complete application must include
the following: a letter of application stating research plans, teaching
interests, and grantsmanship; three letters of reference; a complete
curriculum vitae; a graduate school transcript; samples of research and
writing and (if applicable) evidence of teaching excellence. Send to: Chair,
IR/CP Search Committee, Department of Political Science, Arizona State
University, PO Box 873902, Tempe, AZ 85287-3902. A background check is
required for employment. Arizona State University is an Equal Opportunity,
Affirmative Action Employer.
