Subject: The Swedish Interdisciplinary Research School in Computational Social Science

Dear research school partners,

I am pleased to announce that the Swedish Interdisciplinary Research School in Computational Social Science is now fully operational and accepting applications for the first cohort of students. I hope you can assist me in passing along the following information to the relevant doctoral programs at your higher education institution.

The Research School is a collaboration of eight Swedish higher education institutions and is coordinated by the Institute for Analytical Sociology, a unit of Linköping University located on the Norrköping campus. It is open to doctoral students from any discipline and runs in two-year cycles, with new student cohorts admitted every other year. The program includes a core curriculum consisting of a series of short courses worth 10.5 ECTS credits as well as seminars, networking activities, and elective courses in the emerging field of computational social science. Costs associated with attending these events will be covered for participants. Doctoral students interested in joining the 2023 cohort are welcome to apply by April 3, 2023 via the Research School's webpage<https://liu.se/en/research/research-school-in-computational-social-science>.

As an inaugural event for the Research School, the IAS is running a Norrköping branch of the Summer Institutes in Computational Social Science (SICSS), a worldwide initiative to provide free training to the next generation of researchers at the intersection of social science and data science. Participants at each institute will hear lectures, participate in group training exercises, and launch interdisciplinary research projects. The Summer Institute will be held on an intensive, two-week basis from June 12 to 22, 2023, and will be worth 3 ECTS credits for students, pending approval. The Summer Institute will also be open to a limited number of researchers who are not part of the Research School, and therefore doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and untenured faculty within 7 years of their PhD are all welcome to apply by April 3, 2023, via the SICSS webpage<https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsicss.io%2F2023%2Fias%2F&data=05%7C01%7Cadel.daoud%40liu.se%7C182ff9622a384569feed08db261c118f%7C913f18ec7f264c5fa816784fe9a58edd%7C0%7C0%7C638145674219085382%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=3vbefXuKL88qdKuOhkMbL8WD%2F%2FIHjT7MJKU0bXbc4qQ%3D&reserved=0>. (Doctoral students applying to the Research School do not need to submit a separate application for the Summer Institute.)

Thanks for your assistance. I look forward to hearing from interested students from your institution.

All the best,

Jacob Habinek
