Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to update everyone about a few items regarding the upcoming MPSA conference (April 3-6, 2008 in the newly renovated Chicago Palmer House Hotel).

First, we have received a record number of proposals to present at the conference, so this conference should offer many interesting panels to attend. We have already sent some of the emails that tell people the decisions about their proposals and the remainder should follow over the next three weeks as we batch and finalize the emails. The complete program will be up on the website in January.

Second, the section heads are often in need of scholars to serve as discussants and chairs on panels. Just go to the following webpage to offer to be a discussant and/or chair:
http://www.indiana.edu/~mpsa/Conference/call2008.html

Third, we have a new section that holds a number of poster sessions that highlight research conducted by undergraduate students – typically a senior thesis or some capstone research project. It provides top undergraduates a glimpse at aspects of the academic life and is a great opportunity for students who are considering attending graduate school in political science. We will start accepting proposals in mid November, and the deadline is January 15th, 2008. If you have a student who would be interested and qualified, please let them know about this opportunity.

Finally, information on travel and the conference can be found on the following webpage:

Yours,

-will
