Hi Gijs,

A good place to start for Australian electoral data is the Australian Election Database here: http://www.ada.edu.au/social-science/browse/politics-and-elections/australian-election-database 

There might be some practical issues in handling the data. Australia started implementing compulsory voting in 1914 and it wasn't fully implemented nationally until 1941 (see Table 1 in this paper: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21176039/Fowler_CompulsoryVoting.pdf ). If you're only looking back to the 1970s I think you will find everything you need though through the Australian Election Database link.

Hello: I am looking for historical poll data showing votes shares by party. I have found data for Sweden, Denmark, Norway, UK and Canada, but would like to extend this dataset with other European countries as well as Australia and New Zealand. Preferably the data go back to the 1970s. All suggestions are welcome.
