The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track
position at the Assistant Professor level in Methodology. The position begins
in August 2006. The Department seeks a candidate who can contribute to the
development of a subfield of relevant courses in research methods and
methodology and teach those courses in an undergraduate setting. The
successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing
development of methodology education within the department by providing
collegial input and support to other courses offered in Political Science. We
are particularly interested in candidates whose secondary emphasis is in
American Politics broadly defined. Assignment will include teaching courses at
both the introductory and advanced undergraduate levels. This requires
teaching 3 courses per semester. Evidence of quality teaching is expected. A
developing or active research agenda is required (about one-third of effort),
along with a willingness to perform service to the university and community.
The Department will be represented at the 2005 APSA conference for selective
interviews. Early application is encouraged. Salary commensurate with
credentials, qualifications, and experience. Ph.D. required. Persons who have
not completed all degree requirements by the beginning of the contract period
may be considered for a term appointment at the rank of instructor until such
time as all degree requirements have been completed. SIUE is a premier
