1.      The Department of Political Science at Ohio State seeks to hire in American politics, one of its traditional areas of strength. The candidate should study political institutions, processes, or outcomes, and should have a high degree of conceptual and methodological sophistication, including but not limited to quantitative analysis, formal modeling, and/or experiments. Candidates must show promise of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in political science or a related field or anticipate having such a degree before August 21, 2015. The Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level in the field of comparative politics. The term of appointment would begin August 2015.

2. We seek a scholar specializing in political violence, contentious politics, and/or collective action, including topics such as non-violent protest, social movements, ethnic conflict, armed insurgencies, civil war, terrorism, crime, and gender violence. We are especially interested in scholarship focusing on these topics in the context of new democracies and/or authoritarian regimes.
We are open to candidates with any regional specialization, but particularly welcome applications from scholars focusing on the Middle East and North Africa; the formerly Communist countries of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia; or South Asia.

The ideal candidate should have a research agenda addressing an important theoretical question, and a conceptually and methodologically sophisticated approach to its analysis. The department is methodologically diverse and encourages applications embodying a broad spectrum of approaches. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in political science or a related field or anticipate having such a degree before August 21, 2015.
