Nuffield Professorship of Sociology

DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY in association with Nuffield College

Start date: As soon as possible, and not later than 1 September 2014.

The Nuffield Professorship of Sociology is a new professorship in the Department
of Sociology. The postholder will be a statutory Professor of the University and
a Professorial Fellow of Nuffield College.

The successful candidate will be a scholar of sociology of international
distinction, with an outstanding research and publication profile, a record of
success in obtaining external research grants, and an ability to inspire, guide
and motivate students and colleagues. He or she will teach on graduate and
undergraduate programmes in the University, and will be expected to assume a
key leadership role in the further development of sociological research and
teaching at Oxford and in the wider academic community.
