The Department of Political Science and Research Methods, University of Twente, the Netherlands, is looking for a



 



Researcher (post-doc) 



in Political Science



(1.0 fte for the duration of 3 years)



 



The Department



The research program of the Department of Political Science and Research Methods focuses on the relationship between citizens and their government in multilevel political systems. Core topics include political behaviour, political representation and the legitimacy of government, and the innovation of democratic governance. An emphasis on research methodology is central to all our research endeavours. The department has a strong record in international comparative survey research and is strongly involved in a number of prominent international collaborative projects in the field of electoral research and political representation at the local, national, and European level. Several research projects are commissioned by government agencies and other local, national and international organizations. 



The Department of Political Science and Research Methods is also responsible for and coordinates all courses in research methodology and (quantitative) data analysis for all degree programmes (BA, MA/MSc, PhD) offered by the School of Management and Governance. It is also strongly involved in the BA and MSc in Public Administration and European Studies. Since September 2005, the department (jointly with the School of Behavioural Science) is offering a 2-year M. Phil programme on Social Systems Evaluation and Survey Research.



 



Responsibilities



The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the international research profile of the department and to strengthen research collaborations with international partner institutions. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to teaching on research methodology, Comparative Politics, and/or European Union politics. 



 



Profile 



Required for this position is a (nearly) completed PhD in political science, thorough knowledge of applied research methodology and a promising record of research. An international orientation as well as experience with international research collaborations and research grant applications is desirable.



 



Employment conditions



We offer a full-time position (38 hours a week) for a period of three years in a stimulating environment starting in the summer of 2008. The salary is based on the job profile Researcher level 4 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. It depends on your education and experience and will be in the range of € 2330 to € 3678 per month. In addition, the University of Twente offers additional attractive employment conditions.
