The German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für 

Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) is one of the leading think tanks on 

development policy. Through excellent research, policy advice and 

training, the Institute contributes to finding solutions to global 

challenges.



There is a job vacancy in department III “Governance, Statehood, 

Security” for a

Researcher (m/f)

Salary according to German public service tariff (TVÖD) up to 

EUR 49.000,00 depending on qualifications;



The position can be filled immediately and is currently limited until 

31 December 2013, with a possible extension until 31 December 2015 

(subject to funding). The person will carry out research and consultancy 

activities on the political economy of economic development. He / she 

will be a member of a highly qualified research team in a DIE beacon 

project that explores the relationship between political rule and 

inclusive economic development, using quantitative methods.



Qualifications and requirements:



  - PhD in political science, public management or economics

  - Proficiency in quantitative research methods, demonstrated in 

    publications or work experience

  - Proven knowledge in one or several of the following topics: 

    institutional theory, public management analysis, public policy 

    analysis, political regime analysis

  - Expertise in a specific policy area would be an asset (for 

    instance, health, education, environment, public finance)

  - Field experience in a developing country and relevant teaching 

    experience would be an asset

  - Fluent spoken and written English, proficiency in another major 

    international language

  - Willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with 

    a tropical climate
