AMERICAN POLITICS The Department of Political Science invites applications for
tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level in American Politics.
The positions begin August 2006. The Department seeks applicants with
expertise in either Congress or Presidency, and additional expertise in one or
more of the following: women and politics, media and politics, political
parties, interest groups, public policy, or US Latino/a politics. The position
requires teaching 3 courses per semester. Evidence of quality undergraduate
teaching is expected. A developing or active research agenda is required
(about one-third of effort), along with a willingness to perform service to
the University and community. The Department will be represented at the 2005
APSA conference for selective interviews. Early application is encouraged.
Salary commensurate with credentials, qualifications, and experience. Ph.D.
required. Persons who have not completed all degree requirements by the
beginning of the contract period may be considered for a term appointment at
the rank of instructor until such time as all degree requirements have been
completed. SIUE is a premier metropolitan university located twenty miles from
St. Louis, with a diverse faculty and student body. As an affirmative action
