Subject: oxford post doc posting

We are offering this fixed-term research and teaching appointment
to an outstanding academic in the field of formal analysis in Politics and
International Relations. You must be at an early stage in your career and
aspiring to a substantive academic appointment. The Fellowship is
available from 1st January 2007 for a period of two years and is part of a
wider Oxford University initiative designed to provide an intensive and
supported career development opportunity for outstanding entry-level
academics and to promote equality of opportunity by helping to create a
more diverse pool of potential candidates for future academic posts at
Oxford or elsewhere.

The University will especially welcome applications from women and
ethnic minority members, who are under-represented among its academic
staff (section 38 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and section 48 of the
Race Relations Act 1976 apply).

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in both
research and teaching; you will have an academic mentor as well as a
personalised career and professional development package, including the
chance to undertake the University's postgraduate diploma in learning and
teaching. You will also be able to contribute to the undergraduate
teaching in Politics and International Relations undertaken with Oriel
College.

You should have a completed doctorate, or evidence of imminent
completion, in a substantive area of Political Science involving the use
of formal research design and analysis. You also need to have a research
agenda in the use and/or development of formal analysis in the study of
some aspect of Politics or International Relations as well as experience
and evidence of commitment to the teaching of undergraduate and/or
graduate students.

Salary Scale: £25,633 to £31,525 for the normal substantive scale,
with a discretionary range to £34,448 p.a.

Applications from women and ethnic minorities are particularly
welcome.

The duties and skills required are described in more detail in the
further particulars, which also contain details on how to apply. These are
available from this web page or from our Personnel Office (Email:
[log in to unmask], Tel: +44 1865 278700), Department of Politics
and International Relations, Manor Road, Oxford OX1 3UQ, UK. The closing
date for applications is noon on Friday 13th October 2006. Please quote
reference number CT06026 on all correspondence and state where you saw
this post advertised.
