We ask that you please post/distribute the following faculty job
announcement as appropriate:

The Department of Political Science and the Graduate School of
International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS) at the University
of California, San Diego (http://polisci.ucsd.edu;
http://www.irps.ucsd.edu) invite applications for three positions in
the field of international relations. The positions are open with
regard to area of specialization, and applications from all
candidates with demonstrated excellence or promise of excellence in
research and teaching are welcomed.  For one position (Political
Science), applicants with a research background in the quantitative
study of international security are of particular interest.  For a
second position (IR/PS), candidates with research interests in the
international relations and foreign policies of Asia and Latin
America are strongly encouraged to apply.  A strong theoretical and
methodological background is required of all candidates.

Appointments will be as tenure-track Assistant Professors, though
appointment as tenured Associate Professor may also be considered,
dependent upon availability of funding. All appointments will begin
July 1, 2007. Candidates with a PhD degree are preferred, but ABDs
will be considered if the candidate can show substantial progress
toward completion of the dissertation.  Appointment level will depend
on experience and research record and salary level will be based on
published UC pay scales.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest that describes their
research, training, and leadership efforts and/or contributions to
diversity; a current curriculum vitae; writing samples; and three
letters of recommendation (under separate cover).  Application
