The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED)
<http://www.acleddata.com> is hiring a fully-remote, full-time *Research
Analyst.*

ACLED is a research project which records, publishes and analyzes
disaggregated data on violent political conflict. These data are publicly
available, along with analysis and information about the project, at
www.acleddata.com. These data are used for a range of purposes, from
academic research on dynamics of conflict to informing diplomatic policy,
and humanitarian and development work in conflict-affected contexts.

The role

ACLED is recruiting a full-time Research Analyst to oversee ACLED’s weekly
analysis production. The candidate must have the right to work in the
United States of America, although the work is fully remote. The start date
for the position is August 1.

The Research Analyst will be responsible for the following tasks:

   - Provide research assistance to Research Director, Executive Director,
Analysis Coordinator, and others by preparing and conducting quantitative
analysis (including data cleaning, prepping for analysis, etc.), conducting
   literature reviews/desk research, etc.
   - Contribute to the writing and editing of ACLED analysis outputs
around conflict trend and thematic reports, including work on creating
engaging data visualizations using Tableau, through working closely with
other team members including relevant Research Managers, (Senior)
   Researchers, and other Research Analysts.
   - Support ways for ACLED staff to conduct better analysis. This
includes holding internal analysis trainings on software and best
   practices, creating guides/videos etc.
   - Support analysis by ACLED users and partners, as requested. This can
include training or output products for local partners, strategic users, or
media requests. This includes responding to requests for quick-turnaround
data pulls, such as for media users, as well as more in-depth support, such
as providing data analysis and visualization training for local or
   strategic partners.
   - Other ad hoc research and analysis support tasks and occasional
   administrative and coordination tasks.

Please see the ACLED hiring page (
https://acleddata.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=20) for more information on
skills and competencies, and how to apply. Applications will be reviewed on
a rolling basis. Interested candidates are advised to apply early.
