LAPOP Lab at Vanderbilt University announces a competition for this year’s Seligson Prize.

The Seligson Prize is awarded annually to the best scholarship (paper, book, dissertation, or other scholarly work) using LAPOP’s AmericasBarometer data that was published in the prior two calendar years. The prize is named in honor of Mitchell Seligson, the founder of LAPOP and a pioneer in the study of public opinion in Latin America.

Nominated works must make extensive use of AmericasBarometer data and have a publication date in 2021 or 2022, either in print or online. The work submitted for consideration can be in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. All are welcome to nominate or self-nominate a scholarly work for consideration by emailing a copy of the work to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. The 2023 award committee is comprised of Carew Boulding of University of Colorado, Boulder (chair), Melina Altamirano of El Colegio de México, and Lucas Novaes of Insper Institute of Education and Research.

Nominations will be accepted until April 15, 2023. We expect to announce the winner of the 2023 Seligson Prize in June.
