Hello All,

I hope to see you at the Political Methodology
Business Meeting, which will be held Saturday,
Sept. 2nd, at 6:00 in the Pennsylvania Convention Center 202B.

Business Items include: Award presentations,
election of a new at-large member, treasurer's
report, the first report of the Long Range
Planning Committee will be presented and
discussed, the diversity committee chairperson --
Caroline Tolbert, will give a brief report, Nonna
Mayer -- President of The French Political
Science Association (Association Française de
Science Politique -AFSP) will discuss a two-day
long workshop on methodology at its next Congress
in Toulouse, September 5-7th, in 2007, and the
2006 Political Analysis publisher’s report will
be presented by Julia Jeans from Oxford University.

The report of the Long Range Planning Commitee
can be accessed
at:
http://polmeth.wustl.edu/society/2006_Annual_Report_of_the_Long-Range_Planning_Cmte.pdf

I thank them for their hard work, gathering of
opinion, and guidance. The members of the
committee include: James Granato, chair,
Christopher Achen, John Freeman, Guillermina
Jasso, Gary King, Corrine McConnaughy, and William Reed.

While there is still some work to be done on the
report, I felt it was necessary to get the
document out to the community at this time. In
my opinion, the most important recommendation of
the report and one that will affect all the goals
it sets out, is changing the meeting format to
accommodate the greater demand.

I am also happy to report that we broke the 1000
mark for section membership with over 100 new members since May 2006!

Cheers, Jan
