The SPM Poster Award: The Society for Political Methodology Poster Award is given for the best poster presented at the annual PolMeth Summer Meeting.

2011 SPM Poster Award-Winner: Brenton Kenkel (University of Rochester) for "Bounds for Logistic Regression Coefficients with Nonignorable Missing Outcomes" presented at the 2011 PolMeth Meeting.

Citation: Brenton Kenkel (University of Rochester) poster, "Bounds for Logistic Regression Coefficients with Nonignorable Missing Outcomes", describes a method that usefully applies the modified maxmimum score partial identification method developed by Manski and Tamer to the problem of having a logistic regression model with some missing outcome information. The method effectively identifies bounds for the range of coefficient parameter estimates that might be produced by imposing particular assumptions on the form of the missing values, without committing to any particular set of assumptions. Kenkel successfully applies the method to two data sets used in papers on military conflict, showing the extent to which substantively consequential inferences may depend on assumptions made about missingness. The method should be generally useful in cases where a logistic regression model is well motivated apart from the presence of some missing outcome information. The selection committee was Walter Mebane, Patrick Brandt, Drew Linzer, Robert Erikson, and Stephen Haptonstahl. Please join the committee and me in congratulating Brenton. (The prize will be formally awarded at the APSA 2012 Business Meeting of the Political Methodology Section.)
