ONE-YEAR POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION, UNIVERSITY OF VIENNA

The Department of Government at the University of Vienna invites applications for a post-doctoral research position in the research group of Associate Professor Carolina Plescia (https://www.carolinaplescia.com). The post-doctoral researcher will be part of the ERC-funded research project “The meanings of voting for ordinary citizens” (DeVOTE) (https://www.votemeanings.eu).

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct and publish high-quality research within the context of DeVOTE.
- Collaborate with other members of the research group.
- Provide support for research, organizational, data, and administrative tasks within the context of DeVOTE.
- Teaching is not required.

YOUR PROFILE

- PhD in political science or a related discipline (completed or close to completion).
- Interest in the field of voting behaviour, political participation, political psychology, and/or comparative survey research.
- Ambition and ability to produce high-quality and high-impact research, both independently and in a team.
- Ability to work constructively and effectively as part of a research team.
- Proficiency in quantitative research methods, specifically causal inference and/or automated text analysis.
- Very good command of English.
- German is not required.

WHAT WE OFFER

- Duration of employment: twelve months (40 hours/week) contract starting November 1, 2023 (starting date negotiable)
- Salary: approximately EUR 4,350 (14 times a year) before taxes (in line with the Collective Bargaining Agreement §48 Group B1)
