The John T. Williams Dissertation Prize: In recognition of John T. Williams' contribution to graduate training, the John T. Williams Award has been established for the best dissertation proposal in the area of political methodology.

2012 Williams Prize Winners: Adriana Crespo-Tenorio (Washington University--St. Louis) for "Three Papers on the Political Consequences of Oil Price Volatility"

Citation: Adriana Crespo-Tenorio (Washington University--St. Louis; Dissertation Committee: Jeff Gill (chair), Nathan M. Jensen, Guillermo Rosas, & Siddhartha Chib). The proposed research on multivariate count-process change-point models and their application in studying international reactions to oil price fluctuations is new, interesting, and creative. The committee believes strongly that her work will help to forge new tools for political scientists across subfields and illuminate new facets of international political economy and the resource-curse literature. A truly top-flight proposal, it rose to the top of an extremely strong group of nominees for this award. The selection committee was Michael Colaresi, Guy Whitten, and Irfan Nooruddin. Please join the committee and me in congratulating Adriana. (The prize will be formally awarded at the APSA 2012 Business Meeting of the Political Methodology Section.)
