BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:  As a member of the statistics group, the incumbent
works on multidisciplinary teams and provides assistance in statistical
analysis, study design, and sampling. These teams work in a variety of
subject matter areas including welfare, education, environmental issues,
tax, justice, etc. Duties include taking a lead role in advising staff on
statistical matters, designing samples, performing statistical analyses,
and interpreting and presenting results. The position requires effective
interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, ability to meet
deadlines while working concurrently on multiple projects, and strong
written and oral communications skills.

The following are  the seven factors on which we will assess all applicants. You must provide
narrative responses to these factors within the online application.

- Demonstrated experience in designing and selecting complex samples (e.g.,
stratified, multistage, cluster, or dollar unit sampling) from list and
other types of sampling frames.

- Demonstrated experience in the following areas related to estimation
based on sample surveys:  (a) weighting survey data from probability
samples to account for the sample design, (b) analyzing survey data
incorporating techniques that account for nonresponse and/or
undercoverage.

- Demonstrated experience in estimating variances from complex probability
samples.

- Demonstrated experience in the use of statistical software such as SAS,
SUDAAN, IDEA, SPSS, etc.) to perform statistical analysis  on sample data,
such as multivariate analysis (e.g., regression analysis, logistic
regression, cluster analysis) analysis of financial audit samples, or other
complex estimation and analysis.

- Demonstrated experience in working effectively as part of
interdisciplinary teams.

- Demonstrated experience in understanding and providing client/customer
needs including setting expectations, keeping client/customers informed,
and resolving issues or conflicts.

- Demonstrated experience in producing written documents that clearly
present the results of statistical analyses to lay readers who are not
statisticians or social scientists.
