The Society for Political Methodology is asking political science faculty to support the Expansions Initiative.
The goal of the Expansions Initiative is to increase the diversity of The Society for Political Methodology by increasing diversity of the political methodology community and the field of political science.
This year a cohort of 8 student fellows was invited to participate in the first summer session of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program.
At the beginning of the Fall semester, Expansions Initiative Fellows are paired with faculty mentors who will collaborate with the fellows on original research projects. The initiative provides funds to support this research.
We are seeking faculty to collaborate with and mentor our fellows this Fall. We ask that mentors meet with the fellows (remotely) each week to supervise a research project. The fellows will be paid by the Society for Political Methodology as research assistants (RA) through the Fall semester.
While the research project for the mentorship can focus on political methodology, it is not a requirement. Any political science project that uses quantitative method that would benefit from 16 weeks of RA assistance is acceptable.
If you have a suitable project and are willing to mentor one of the students, please contact the Director of the Expansions Initiative, Clayton Webb ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) by August 18, 2023.
Sincerely,
Clayton Webb
