The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenured or
tenure-track position in Methodology to begin in Fall 2006. We anticipate
appointment at the assistant professor level but candidates with
exceptional records of accomplishment and promise will also be considered
at the tenured associate professor level. Candidates should have active
research agendas, the potential to publish in high-quality venues, and good
teaching credentials as well as demonstrated mastery of quantitative
methods. We seek someone with a strong commitment to research and teaching
in statistical and quantitative methods and their application to
substantive political science problems. The search is open with respect to
substantive sub-field and methodological expertise. Teaching
responsibilities will include both introductory and advanced statistical
methods as well as course work in American Politics, International
Relations, or Comparative Politics. All candidates should submit a cover
letter explaining their research interests, teaching experience, and
potential courses they might teach; a current CV; a sample of professional
writing, teaching evaluations (with a key), and syllabi. Prospective or
recent (received in last 4 years) Ph.D.s should also submit a graduate
school transcript. Three letters of recommendation should be sent directly
to the search committee. To assure full consideration, completed
applications should be received no later than October 1, 2005; however,
applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. Faculty
positions at Penn State involve substantial research support; in addition,
junior positions offer significant released time. Send applications to:
Methodology Search, Department of Political Science, 219 Pond Laboratory,
The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA 16802. Penn State is
committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity and the diversity of its
workforce.
