As promised, I am writing to provide the formal RSVP for the New York
University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) conference entitled "Legislative Gridlock:
2012 and Beyond" from March 21-22. This conference will feature a diverse
group of scholars that will chime in on the subject of gridlock from a
variety of angles. The conference is free and open to the public, though
registration is required.  *Please note: the conference is taking place at
NYU in New York.

To RSVP, simply e-mail *[log in to unmask]* with your name and
institutional affiliation. Also, please indicate whether you plan to attend
both the keynote address on the 21st and the conference on the 22nd or just
one of the two. We have a space cap of approximately 75 individuals, so
please register early to reserve a spot.

The tentative conference program is found below. Please note that for
Thursday March 22, the schedule is subject to change, but the general time
structure will be kept.

6:30-8:00pm: Keynote address on the 2012 elections by Alan Abramowitz,

Thursday, March 22

8:30-9:15am: Coffee, Light refreshments

9:15-9:30am: Opening remarks, plan of conference by Adam Ramey, NYU Abu
Dhabi

9:30-10:45am: "An Update on Polarization" by Keith Poole, University of
Georgia

11:00am-12:15pm: "No Compromise: The Electoral Basis of Legislative
Gridlock" by Gary Jacobson, University of California San Diego

12:15-1:30pm: Lunch

1:30-2:45pm: "Appropriators not Statesmen: The Distorting Effects of
Electoral Incentives on Congressional Representation" by Justin Grimmer,
Stanford University

3:00-4:15pm: "Polarization and Cross-Cutting Cleavages" by Sanford Gordon
and Dimitri Landa, New York University

4:30-5:45pm: Roundtable on Policy Implications of Gridlock - Sarah Binder
(GWU and Brookings), Michael Peress (University of Rochester), Boris Shor
(University of Chicago); moderated by Adam Ramey, NYUAD

6:00pm: Light reception
