The Department of Political Science at Rice University, located in Houston, Texas, invites applications for one tenure-track position to begin July 1, 2017. The appointment will be made at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Successful candidates will have a promising research agenda and strong analytical and empirical skills as well as aspire to the highest standards of scholarship, professional activity, and commitment to graduate and undergraduate education. We are especially interested in candidates whose research interests and expertise lie in the area of democratic representation, particularly as it relates to the study of underrepresented minorities, either in the U.S. or cross-nationally.

Candidates must currently have a Ph.D. or complete the Ph.D. by November 1, 2017. The application deadline is September 15, 2016, but applications will be accepted until the search is closed. All applications should be submitted electronically via https://jobs.rice.edu/ <https://jobs.rice.edu/> (from this page, select “Faculty,” then choose “Assistant Professor of Political Science” or “Associate Professor of Political Science,” according to your level). A complete application for candidates at the assistant professor level will include (1) a cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) graduate school transcripts, (4) two writing samples, and (5) three letters of recommendation. Candidates who currently hold the rank of associate professor are asked to submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and information for at least three references.
