Call for Proposals Announcement for the 2024 Election Science Conference within a Conference, Southern Political Science Association Annual Meeting, January 10-13, 2024, New Orleans, Louisiana

The 2024 Election Science Conference within a Conference (CwC), organized by Seo-young Silvia Kim (American University) and Yimeng Li (Florida State University), is now calling for proposals. We hope to elicit broad participation and spark enthusiasm from Election Law, Election Sciences, State and Local Politics, and Political Methodology circles.

For this CwC, we invite submissions in all areas of election sciences, especially those discussing how to defend and protect elections--its procedures, administrators, public trust, and others--in the face of the upcoming 2024 election, which is projected to be--and is already--highly contentious and polarizing. Topics can include changing public opinion about election procedures, how to uphold voter confidence in the integrity of elections, threats to election administrators and their downstream implications, choices in voting methods and their impact on voter experiences, racial/ethnic disparities in access to registration and the ballot box, elite rhetoric in how election results are processed and reported, election reform and political participation, and so on.

We encourage submissions from all scholars, including practitioner (co-)authors, those from underrepresented backgrounds, graduate/junior scholars, and submissions with undergraduate (co-)authors. Proposals can focus on the American context, international, or comparative politics.

The CwC will include 4-7 panels of 4 papers each, with all panels likely occurring on the same day for ease of attendance (exact date to be announced later). There will also be a roundtable with election scholars and practitioners to discuss pressing needs in the upcoming 2024 elections.

The submission link is https://forms.gle/7aEbFwgaggMnmpfU9 and the submission deadline is August 15, 2023. The abstract is limited to 4,000 characters. We look forward to seeing your submission. "
