The University of South Carolina is advertising for five positions: one in
IR or Comparative with a focus on China, one in Comparative or IR with a
focus on the Rule of Law, two in Public Administration, and one in Political
Theory. The first two positions are advertised at the Assistant or Associate
Professor level and the remaining three are advertised at the Assistant
Professor level. The ads are posted on the APSA website and I've included
them below. I'm happy to answer questions about these positions.

International Relations/Comparative Politics/China
Assistant/Associate Professor



The Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina (
http://www.cas.sc.edu/poli/) invites applications for a tenure- track
position in International Relations or Comparative Politics at the Assistant
or Associate Professor level, to begin in August 2012.   As one component of
a group of positions authorized in a China cluster, we seek candidates with
training in IR and/or CP, and whose research and teaching interests include
China (individually, globally, or regionally within Asia), but can otherwise
be open (e.g., international political economy, comparative political
economy, conflict and/or cooperation within and/or between states,
comparative institutions, foreign policy analysis, etc.).  Among junior
applicants, preference will be given to those having Ph.D. in hand, a
well-conceived and established research agenda, and evidence of teaching
effectiveness; among more senior scholars, preference will be given to those
with particularly strong publication and teaching records.



Applicants should submit a letter describing their interests and
credentials, curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching
interests, accomplishments, three letters of recommendation and samples of
published and unpublished research to:

position in Comparative Politics or International Relations at the Assistant
or Associate level, to begin in August 2012.  The position has been
authorized as part of a University initiative focused on rule of law.
Candidates trained primarily in Comparative Politics should accordingly have
research and teaching interests that include issues such as state capacity
building, democratization, fragile states, civil society, and transitional
justice; while candidates trained primarily in International Relations
should have research and teaching interests that include issues such as
NGOs, human rights, and/or international organizations working in
post-conflict/transitional settings.  Applicants with research and teaching
interests in the Middle East are especially encouraged to apply.  Preference

Assistant Professor Rank



The Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina (

tenure-track positions in Public Administration, both at the rank of
Assistant Professor, to begin in August 2012.  Substantive specializations
are open.  The Department will give preference to applicants having Ph.D. in
hand, a well-conceived and established research agenda, and evidence of
teaching effectiveness.  Applicants must be able to contribute through
teaching, research and service to the Department’s NASPAA-accredited MPA
curriculum, and to undergraduate course offerings in Public Administration.
