Thanks again to Rolf van der Velden

Deadline: 9 June 2013

Full Professor/director for the Research Centre for Education and the Labour
Market (ROA) and chair in Education and the Labour Market (Department of
Economics) (total: 1.0 fte)

Tasks: The director of the ROA will bear final responsibility for all aspects of
the organisation. Within ROA's management team, the director has specific
responsibility for the coherence and scientific quality of ROA’s research
output, the integration of ROA’s research within the Graduate School of
Business and Economics (GSBE) and the cooperation between ROA and the
Department of Economics in particular. Given the specific nature of ROA’s
research interests, the director of the ROA is also expected to play a role in
the public policy debate on education and the labour market and to maintain a
good balance between ROA’s fundamental and policy-oriented research.

The chair in Education and the Labour Market is intended to play an active role
in initiating, coordinating and carrying out research projects that lead to
international publications of the highest quality, thus contributing to the
visibility and reputation of ROA. The chair is also expected to attract funding
for fundamental research. Limited teaching duties (including coordination) will
refer to the (research) master’s programmes in the chair’s field.

Requirements: The candidate should be an internationally known researcher who
meets the highest quality standards, as shown by top-level international
publications in the areas of labour economics and/or education economics. The
candidate should have excellent leadership qualities and should be able to
attract research funding and to motivate others to do high-profile research.
The candidate should have an excellent network both within the scientific
community and within the relevant policy field.

We offer: The selected candidate will occupy a combined position as director of
the ROA and chair in Education and the Labour Market in the Department of
Economics. This will be a full appointment for an unlimited term. Salary will
be determined according to responsibility, experience and the salary scales in
the Dutch University Salary Scales. Applications, including a curriculum vitae,
should be submitted no later than June 9, 2013.
