 Workshop
‘Advances in Research on War and Gender’
9-11 October 2023, Bergen (Norway)

The WarEffects team<https://www.wareffects.eu/team>, at the Department of Government at the University of Bergen invites emerging and senior scholars to participate in a fully funded workshop from 9 to 11 October 2023 at Hotel Solstrand<https://solstrand.com/en/> near Bergen. The aim of the workshop is to bring together an international group of senior and junior scholars working on the micro-level effects (but also determinants) of wars, violence and organized crime on gender identity and relations. We are particularly interested in novel quantitative approaches with a specific focus on measurement, causal identification, and mechanisms, but also innovative qualitative research including archival research, and the integration of the two. The workshop is the launch of the ERC-funded WarEffects project<http://www.wareffects.eu> (2022-2027).
Target group
We specifically encourage emerging scholars including PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty to apply. Moreover, we particularly invite scholars from the Global South, people of color, LGBTIQ+ people, and first generation graduates to apply.
