Call for Papers for the Fifth Annual Conference on International Borders in a Globalizing World, which will be held at Perry World House, at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, on May 4 - 5, 2023.

For the conference on International Borders in a Globalizing World, we are seeking paper submissions that focus on international boundaries between organized human communities, broadly understood. The conference is concerned with how humans demarcate the space between “us” and “them” in a global context. We seek thought-provoking, theoretically motivated papers with empirical content based on any appropriate method(s).

We specifically seek works that explore topics at the intersection of borders and migration, mental health, trade, human rights, climate, and trafficking and crime, and technology. The conference will offer three presentation formats: panels, lightning presentations, and posters.

Applications are due by Thursday, February 23, 2023, require an abstract of no more than 500 words, and may be submitted through the following link: https://bit.ly/bordersboundaries2023

Accepted presenters will submit their conference papers by Thursday, April 20, to allow time for intentional feedback during the conference.

Please direct questions to Dr. Biz Herman at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Best regards,

Beth Simmons, Penn Integrates Knowledge (PIK) Professor
Biz Herman, Perry World House Postdoctoral Fellow
