Dear Colleague,

We write to ask your help in circulating notice of an open staff position in the LAPOP Lab at Vanderbilt. We seek to hire a statistician who will work independently and in teams to apply technical skills in survey design, fieldwork oversight, and data analysis to develop, complete, and disseminate research on public opinion. Activities may include, but are not limited to, survey design, programming, project management, statistical analysis, and report writing.

LAPOP is an active social science research laboratory at Vanderbilt. Our mission is to produce high quality public opinion data, develop and implement cutting-edge survey methods, build capacity in survey research and analysis, and generate and disseminate policy-relevant research. Our activities are supported by numerous grants and implemented via a large network of partners across the Americas. The lab runs with about 10 staff, and also includes about a dozen undergraduate student research assistants, several graduate student research assistants, and several post-doctoral positions.

The ideal candidate has graduate level training in survey methods, political science, economics, or a related field of study, or the equivalent in experience. Strong communication skills - written and verbal - and proven ability to work independently and in teams on research projects are important. Spanish language skills are preferred, but not required.

Vanderbilt University is intentional about and assumes accountability for fostering advancement and respect for equity, diversity, and inclusion for all students, faculty, and staff. LAPOP shares this same commitment and welcomes inquiries and applications from all persons.

Please forward this to former students or other colleagues who might be interested in this opportunity. They can find the full job ad (code #1902061) and apply here: https://www.vanderbilt.edu/work-at-vanderbilt/<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vanderbilt.edu%2Fwork-at-vanderbilt%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cnoam.lupu%40vanderbilt.edu%7Cf70bf1b07b484234c1bd08d822b1430f%7Cba5a7f39e3be4ab3b45067fa80faecad%7C0%7C0%7C637297492022659013&sdata=ys8mNggHlNiLAXJtYb3B%2FhRDIymCjJbroZa2M3b9OIk%3D&reserved=0>. Interested applicants can contact Noam Lupu ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) or Liz Zechmeister ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>>) with questions.

Thank you,

Liz and Noam
