The Department of Political Science at Rice University, located in 
Houston, Texas, invites applications for a visiting assistant professor 
to begin July 1, 2022.  The position is for one year and renewable for a 
second year.  The expected teaching load is 2-2.  The visiting assistant 
professor will be expected to teach undergraduate courses, be available 
to meet with students during office hours, and contribute to a positive 
department culture.  We welcome candidates who will also value 
interacting with our research community of faculty and graduate 
students.  Our greatest teaching needs are in comparative politics and 
applied research methods.

Candidates must currently have a Ph.D. or complete the Ph.D. by July 1, 
2022. The application deadline is May 15, 2022. A complete application 
must include a letter of application; a curriculum vitae; a teaching 
statement that addresses teaching experience and approach and discusses 
issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion; graduate school transcripts; 
evidence of quality of past teaching; and contact information for three
