Dear colleagues,

The NORFACE-funded project ExId (“Extreme Identities: A Linguistic and Visual Analysis of European Far-Right Online Communities’ Politics of Identity”) based in the Department of Political Science, Trinity College Dublin is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow (Post-Doctoral Researcher) on a full-time basis for 30 months.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the project, working as a data scientist alongside consortium members at the University of Exeter and the University of Copenhagen. They will apply their data science skills to help uncover and analyze the text and imagery of a multifaceted and ever-growing online far-right ecosystem.

Applicants will possess a PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in data science, computer science, statistics, social sciences, or related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognized authority in social data analysis and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. Specifically, the successful applicant will have an advanced understanding of methods in machine learning and data science, proficiency in programming in Python and/or R, proven ability to efficiently deliver high quality research outputs, and advanced knowledge of web scraping. They will also be able to work collaboratively.
