Colleagues:

We are looking to hire a postdoc here at WashU to work with a team of
faculty on a new large scale data collection project focused on online
political communications in a comparative context.

The position is for one year with the possibility to renew for a second
year. There is no teaching, and scholars will be collaborating with Margit
Tavits, Christoper Lucas, and myself with the aim of producing publications
for peer-reviewed journals. The postdoc will also be included in all
activities in our methods group and have a lot of opportunities to get
feedback and mentorship on their independent work. Strong methods skills
are preferable, but really we are looking for people who are good at
wrangling data, can learn new skills, and can work independently (and as
part of a team). Training in nearly any area of social
science/computational methods will be fine. So if you think you are even
vaguely qualified, please send in your application.

And feel free to email me if you have any questions:

Please note that the deadline is *January 10*, and we hope to schedule
interviews as soon as possible.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS

Please note that the WashU HR system is unusually clunky. You are going to
be asked a bunch of irrelevant questions (like how many hours you can work)
that you should feel free to ignore (or put in garbage answers). All we
really want is your cover letter, curriculum vitae, one writing sample
(demonstrates both research interests and technical skills), a research
statement, and three reference letters. If all else fails, email me.

We will interview finalists by phone or Skype. The application
deadline is *January
10, 2020*.

Applications and supporting documentation must be submitted electronically.
Please visit the Washington University Human Resources web page (
http://hr.wustl.edu/opportunities/Pages/default.aspx) and search for job
requisition number *46409*. Candidates should create an account, complete
the application form and upload a CV and supporting materials. Please
follow the directions below for uploading documents to your profile.

1. Log into your account. Click on ‘My Activities’
2. Click on ‘Add Attachment’
3. Choose attachment type and purpose and click ‘Upload Attachment’
4. Browse for document on your computer and upload file

You may upload your documents as one file or individual files. Letters of
recommendation and questions should be e-mailed to Jacob Montgomery (
