Dear PolMeth Community:
At Legislative Studies Quarterly we have noticed that articles that explain how to implement novel quantitative methods in the context of legislative studies generate a lot of engagement from our readers — including earning a large number of citations. If you have a manuscript that offers an applied explanation of a methodological innovation you think the legislative studies community would find useful, I would like to encourage you to submit it to LSQ. To clarify, I use the term “methodological innovation” broadly to mean new measurement tools, flexible prediction algorithms, video-as-data models, formal portrayals of the pitfalls of commonly used models, etc., etc. — pretty much everything you all are working on! The rest of the editorial team and I would really like to get a number of papers of this sort under review (and published).
If you have any thoughts or questions, feel free to contact me.
Brian Crisp
PS: We are currently in the process of drafting a description for notes or short form articles that the journal will be accepting in the future, if you find that format more appealing than a full-length manuscript.
