CALL FOR PROPOSALS
6th Workshop on Comparative Approaches to Immigration, Ethnicity, and
Integration
Yale University, Tuesday, June 14 - Wednesday June 15, 2016

Deadline for proposals: 8 January 2016

We invite you to submit a paper to be presented at the 6th Workshop on
Comparative Approaches to Immigration, Ethnicity, and Integration hosted by
Yale University on June 14-15, 2016. This two-day, invitation-only
conference brings together scholars studying issues of immigration,
ethnicity, and integration in different contexts (the U.S., Europe, and
other immigrant-receiving states) from an American Politics, Comparative
Politics, and International Relations perspective. The goal of the
conference is to bring together scholars whose work addresses very similar
issues and concerns but who rarely engage with each other.

Those wishing to present a paper should complete the form on the conference
website
<http://isps.yale.edu/conferences/comparative-approaches-to-immigration-ethnicity-and-integration/papers>
and submit an abstract of no more than 300 words by 8 January 2016.
Selection of papers for the conference is the responsibility of a committee
comprised of the current host, Margaret Peters (Yale), the past host,
Rashaan Maxwell (UNC), and Daniel Hopkins (University of Pennsylvania).
Decisions will be made by early February 2016. Preference will be given to
junior scholars (post-docs and assistant professors).

Papers are distributed at least one week before the workshop and
participants are encouraged to read as many as possible. The format
allocates 40-50 minutes per paper. There is a brief 10-15 minute
presentation of the paper by the author, followed by a 5-minute response by
a discussant. The rest of the time is devoted to questions and discussion
with the group. This is the most productive part of the workshop, as there
is plenty of time for detailed engagement and feedback.

We anticipate that our budget will cover airfare/rail fare of our
presenters, and hotel for presenters, discussants, and attendees.

The conference will start on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 1:30pm and run
through the afternoon of Wednesday, June 15, 2016, ending at 3:30pm.

This will be the 6th meeting of this conference. Previous conferences took
place at University of North Carolina, Stanford, MIT, and Princeton.
Funding for the conference has been generously provided by the Yale
University Center for the Study of American Politics <http://csap.yale.edu/>,
Institution for Social and Policy Studies <http://isps.yale.edu/>, the Leitner
Political Economy Program <http://leitner.yale.edu/>, and the MacMillan
Center for International Studies <http://macmillan.yale.edu/>.
