Doctoral Student in Environmental Migration
The research project in which the new doctoral student will be embedded focuses on how climate -related disasters affect short-term and long-term migration decisions of individuals and households. The research to be undertaken by the doctoral student will be based on original survey data collection in Bangladesh. The supervisors for the doctoral dissertation will be Professors Vally Koubi and Thomas Bernauer.
The successful candidate should hold a Master degree in political science, political economy, economics, or sociology and be very familiar with quantitative methods of empirical data analysis, quasi-experimental research designs as well as survey methods. Knowledge in questionnaire development and panel management are a plus, as is research experience in a developing country. Willingness and ability to engage in field research in Bangladesh for several months throughout the dissertation project is a must. The position will start in early autumn 2019,and the funding is for up to four years.
