Professor of the Practice of Quantitative Analysis

WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS CENTER invites applications for two openings for Professor of the Practice:  responsible for the teaching and development of data analysis courses, and for consulting with faculty interested in incorporating data analysis work in their courses, and for scholarly activities. The person in this position will engage in diverse collaborations with academic departments, programs and individual faculty across the university to promote data analysis work.  The professor of the practice will contribute to the further development of the digital and computational knowledge initiative, the scientific computing and informatics program, and data science related initiatives, by teaching existing courses and collaboratively working on the development of new ones that serve the curriculum needs of several academic departments/programs (including graduate programs) and by facilitating the development of quantitative reasoning across the curriculum. Courses may include on-line components in addition to face-to-face instruction.  Professors of the practice are not tenure-track positions, but are renewable positions based on performance, budget, and continued need. This position may be at the assistant, associate, or full professor level depending on the experience and qualifications of the candidate.   The primary responsibility of this position will be to teach and co-teach courses in data analysis and statistical computing. Consulting will be a significant secondary responsibility. Consulting activities may include but are not limited to: working with faculty in integrating data analysis in course work, advising faculty and students on appropriate data analysis methods, organizing professional development opportunities, collaborating on grant writing, and developing consortia and externally funded projects.  Participating on campus committees and working groups and performing related duties as assigned.
