With apologies for the cross-posting...
The Ill-Treatment and Torture (ITT) project <http://faculty.ucmerced.edu/cconrad2/Academic/ITT_Data_Collection.html>
announces the Beta release of four country-year datasets that code Amnesty International's allegations of states' violations of the Convention Against Torture against all countries with at least one million population during the years 1995-2005. The Beta data and User's Guide are available here: http://faculty.ucmerced.edu/cconrad2/Academic/Data.html
NB: These data are not yet fit for publication, though they are ready for use in working papers. We expect to release the final version of these data in July 2011. User suggestions are greatly desired.
Courtenay R. Conrad & Will H. Moore, ITT co-PIs
ITT has received support from the National Science Foundation (NSF Grant #0921397), the Department of Political Science at Florida State University, and the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts at the University of California, Merced.
