Dear Colleagues

Due to a clerical error, the online submission process for positions
at NYU Abu Dhabi was disabled in mid November. However, we are
continuing to consider applications this spring for the up to four
political science positions at NYU Abu Dhabi and encourage those
interested in applying. Therefore, we have fixed the problem and the
online submission process for positions is now re-opened. I apologize
to any that attempted to apply in the past month, but were unable to
do so. To apply now, please go to:

NYUAD is designed to be a "World Honors College." The first class of
150 students at NYUAD, starting their studies this fall, were drawn
from 39 different countries on six continents. Approximately one-third
are from the United States; the next most popular countries of
residence are the UAE, China, Hungary, and Russia. 87% of these
students speak more than two languages and 40% speak three or more
languages. The admissions process for the first class (which stated
this fall) was highly competitive, and yielded a class with
exceptional academic qualifications, with SAT scores that rank the
school in the top six of US Universities who are on a par with
students from top US institutions such as Harvard, Yale, and Princeton
(770 on verbal and 780 on math). Students are taught in small classes
and regular faculty have teaching assistance from postdoctoral
fellows. The standard teaching load is approximately three courses a
semester so that faculty can both be attentive to students' needs and
also have ample time for their own research (extensive financial
support for faculty research is also provided). New hires typically
spend their first year at NYU NYC before moving to NYUAD and housing
support and other assistance in living arrangements is generally
provided both in NYC and Abu Dhabi.

A most promising development for us is that in the first class a large
proportion of the students intend to major in political science, with
another large number intending to have a second major in political
science. The only major that is more popular is economics. NYUAD is
currently recruiting students for the second class and these students
are expected to have the same primary interests in political science
and economics. We have devised an exciting political science
curriculum for these students, which can be found at:

New York University has established a campus in Abu Dhabi, United Arab
Emirates, and invites applications for one or more faculty positions
at any level (assistant, associate or full professor). We encourage
applicants in any area of political science, including political
theory. The terms of employment are competitive compared to U.S.
benchmarks and include housing and educational subsidies for children.

campuses. The appointment might begin as soon as September 1, 2011, or
could be delayed until September 1, 2012.

NYU Abu Dhabi is recruiting faculty of international distinction
committed to active research and the finest teaching, to building a
pioneering global institution of the highest quality, and to forging
an international community of scholars and students.

Alongside its highly-selective liberal arts college, NYU Abu Dhabi
will create distinctive graduate programs and a world-class institute
for advanced research that fosters creative work across the Arts,
Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Engineering. Situated at a
new global crossroads, NYU Abu Dhabi has the resources and resolve to
become a preeminent center of collaborative intellectual pursuit and
impact.

NYU New York and NYU Abu Dhabi are integrally connected. The faculties
work together, and the campuses form the foundation of a unique global
network university, linked to NYU’s other study and research sites on
five continents.

Major research projects and public programs are underway. We have
recruited our first cohort of faculty across many disciplines and the
first class of students of remarkable potential from across the world
arrive in Fall 2010. The international character of NYUAD is reflected
in the global composition of the faculty and the student body as well
as the research agenda and curriculum, which have been designed to
promote inventiveness, intellectual curiosity, multidisciplinary
interest, and intercultural understanding.

Applicants need to submit a curriculum vitae, statement of research
and teaching interests, representative publications and three letters
of reference in PDF format to be considered. Please visit our website
at http://nyuad.nyu.edu/human.resources/open.positions.html for
