Hi All- The Center for C-SPAN Scholarship and Engagement (CCSE) at Purdue University will be hosting (online) a great talk by Oliver Rittman (University of Mannheim) this Friday (March 10th) at 2:30pm ET. He is presenting as part of our Video Research Workshop series which highlights research related to C-SPAN and shows scholars new ways to use audio and video as data. If you are interested attending (online) the talk, you can register here: http://bit.ly/VideoWorkshopCCSE<https://t.co/pBEcHtxgub> In his talk, he will be presenting a co-authored paper which uses facial recognition to measure attentiveness during legislative debates. Although his paper focuses on the Landtag Baden-Württemberg, a large state-level parliament in Germany, the methodology he employs will likely be of general interest to many subscribing to this list. Ultimately, he finds that women, on average, receive less attention during their parliamentary speeches than men, an effect that is primarily driven by men in the audience. We are very much looking forward to hosting Oliver Rittman who recently gave a talk on ``Video-as-Data’’ for the International Methods Colloquium, which can be found here: https://www.methods-colloquium.com/single-post/oliver-rittmann-video-as-data-methods-for-political-science-research<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r-i7bSQoco> Again, you can register for this Friday’s talk here: https://t.co/pBEcHtxgub Additional information about the CCSE can be found here: https://www.cla.purdue.edu/academic/communication/cspan/ccse/index.html Thanks, Bryce Associate Professor Department of Political Science Purdue University Research Scholar Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Education Purdue University Adjunct Professor (ending 2023) University of Iowa Email [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask] (ending 2023) Social Media @brycejdietrich Website http://www.brycejdietrich.com ************************************************************** Political Methodology E-Mail List Editors: Dominique Lockett and Gechun Lin <[log in to unmask]> ************************************************************** Send messages to [log in to unmask] To join the list, cancel your subscription, or modify your subscription settings visit: https://www.cambridge.org/core/membership/spm/mailing-list **************************************************************
