FORS - Swiss Foundation for Research in Social Sciences
FORS is seeking to appoint a
Researcher in Survey Methodology 80% (m/f)
FORS is a national centre of expertise in the social sciences. Its primary
activities consist in the production of survey data, the preservation and
dissemination of data, research in empirical social sciences, and consulting
services for researchers in Switzerland and abroad.
For the Swiss Household Panel (SHP, see www.swisspanel.ch) we seek a researcher
with the following main responsibilities:
- Producing and documenting cross-sectional and longitudinal weights
- Monitoring sampling procedures
- Contributing to the monitoring of the survey in general
- Advising data users on methodological issues
In addition to these main tasks, conducting research using the SHP data is
valued and encouraged.
He or she will be a member of the SHP group, and will be working in close
collaboration with the Survey unit of FORS.
Applicants are required to hold an academic degree in a social science
discipline, with strong quantitative orientation and experience. In particular,
applicants are expected to have experience with complex longitudinal weighting
schemes. An excellent knowledge of statistical packages such as SAS and Stata
is essential.
The working languages at FORS are English, French, and German. A good knowledge
of all three languages is desirable for this position.
FORS is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Salary will be determined according to
the regulations of the University of Lausanne and will depend on the profile and
the qualifications of the applicant.
