The Department of Political Science and Research Methods at the University of Twente, the Netherlands, has a vacancy for a period of 3 years, for a Researcher (post-doc position) in empirical political science. The research program of the department focuses on the relationship between citizens and their government in multilevel political systems. Core topics include political behaviour, political representation and the legitimacy of government, and the innovation of democratic governance. The department has a strong record in international comparative survey research and is strongly involved in a number of prominent international collaborative projects in the field of electoral research and political representation at the local, national, and European level. Several research projects are commissioned by government agencies and other organizations. Research topic
Your main task is to contribute to the ongoing comparative research on the democratic performance of political systems at the national and international (European) level, in collaboration with other members of the department. Next to this you are also expected to take part in the acquisition of research funds and to assist in the organization of (international) conferences.
Profile
Required for this position is a completed PhD in one of the social sciences; thorough knowledge of theories of democratic government; experience with survey research and the statistical analysis of survey data. You are also able to work both independently as well as in a project team. You have good communicative skills.
Appointment and salary
We offer an interesting position in a challenging environment. As a Researcher you will be appointed in a full time position for a period of three years. The salary, based on the function profile Researcher level 4, is between EUR 2217,- and EUR 3498,- gross (scale 10) per month, depending on experience and education.
