Please join us for the PoliInformatics Research Challenge APSA Short Course on Wed. August 27 in Washington DC!

A research challenge invites scholars to show what they can do with a common dataset. Entries are judged, and a prize is awarded to the winning team or individual. This is one of several challenges focusing on the national government's response to the 2007-08 financial crisis. It serves as a feeder to a workshop next November promoting interdisciplinary collaborations among social scientists, computer scientists, and journalists interested in government data.

The short course will display posters and invite challenge participants/teams to give brief presentations of their questions, methods and findings. In addition, there will be training sessions for accessing new 'big' data resources, including an extraordinary new database of .gov website crawls since 1996 curated by the Internet Archive.
