INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION
University of London
Survey Manager
Centre for Longitudinal Studies
Department of Quantitative Social Science
Faculty of Policy and Society
Salary will be on the Grade 7 salary scale, in the range of £30,424 to £36,298
per annum
plus £2,323 London Allowance per annum.
The appointment is full-time and is available from 1 April 2013 for three years
in the first instance.
In view of the nature of the work involved, any offer of appointment will be
conditional on a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.
This post represents an exciting opportunity for a survey manager wishing to
play a key role in the next stage of the world renowned Millennium Cohort Study
(MCS). The MCS is a nationally representative survey of over 19,000 children
born in 2000-2001, who are followed over time and have been visited at ages 9
months, 3, 5, 7 and 11 years.
You will be part of the team that develops and implements the 6th, Age 14 sweep.
Working closely with the rest of the MCS team and the fieldwork contractor, you
will help ensure that the survey is delivered to a high standard, with high

complex, home-based survey.
You will have experience of large scale surveys, and an understanding of the
particular issues involved in engaging and surveying young people. The ability
to manage multiple tasks and to work independently as well as part of a team
are important aspects of the post, as is the ability to liaise with the
fieldwork organisation and to communicate clearly with both cohort members and
their parents, as well as academic and non-academic users of the study.
