Research position in urban studies

Job description

Within the research Department GEODE the candidate will participate in research
on mobility behaviours. S/he is expected to contribute to the CURHA project (an
international consortium which will collect and analyse detailed data on daily
mobility and health outcomes among older adults in contrasted urban settings in
Montreal, Paris and Luxembourg) and to other ongoing research projects within
the Department, especially in the Cross-border Local Mobility Unit.

Requirements

The candidate holds a doctorate in urban studies (quantitative geography,
spatial analysis, sociology, statistics or economics) and has a post-doctoral
experience of 2 to 3 years. The topics of interest are mobility behaviours,
health, survey design and elderly. S/he is familiar with the handling and the
analysis of surveys (i.e. discrete choice models) and has valuable experience
in spatial analysis and GIS (e.g. Arc GIS). Practicing statistical tools (e.g.
SAS, SPSS, Stata) will be an asset. Candidate must be fluent in English, French
language skills are a real asset.

Finally, the candidate must be team player and able to develop independent
research activities within the GEODE research unit.

Conditions of employment

Annual salary: 66700 to 69000 Euros
Type of contract: employee, fixed-term contract
Duration of the contract: 2 years, possibility to extend
Expected date of start: April 2013
