Polmethers
The School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Glasgow is advertising for two Lecturers (Assistant Professors) in Quantitative Social Sciences. These posts are part of an exciting initiative within the School to incorporate quantitative literacy and skills across our undergraduate social science programme. This is part of the Nuffield Foundation funded Q-Step Centre established at the University (we are one of 15 Q-Step Centres established at universities in the UK). We are particularly interested in encouraging candidates with an interest in (quantitative approaches to) political science, public policy or sociology to apply for these posts. Additionally applications would be particularly welcomed from people with innovative approaches to data visualisation. The successful candidates will undertake an interesting project working with colleagues across the School to embed quants and quantitative literacy across the social science curriculum.
I'd be happy to chat with anyone interested (email: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). The closing date for applications is 5 June - advert and links below. Thanks!

The University of Glasgow is delighted to invite applications a full time Lectureship in Quantitative Social Science. We are seeking an outstanding quantitative researcher and teacher to join the School of Social and Political Sciences. You will be expected to engage actively in social research, teaching and administration and play a full part in the collegiate life of the School. You must be conducting research related to one of the following disciplines: Sociology, Politics, Criminology or Public Policy. The posts will add to the growing critical mass of quantitative social research in the School following the establishment of research centres (AQMEN, ADHRC and UBDRC) which are developing cutting-edge research on urban segregation, crime, spatial inequality, social networks, housing, transport and related issues.
The post is linked to the University of Glasgow’s Q-Step grant and the UK-wide Q-Step Programme, which aims to develop inspiring and creative quantitative methods research and teaching. Q-Step is a £19.5m programme designed to promote a step-change in quantitative social science training. Over a five-year period from 2013, fifteen universities across the UK are delivering specialist undergraduate programmes, including new courses, work placements and pathways to postgraduate study. The Q-Step programme is supported by the Nuffield Foundation, ESRC and HEFCE. Expertise and resources will be shared across the higher education sector through an accompanying support programme, which will also forge links with schools and employers.
